The Broctail

The Broctail

Try our Tenderstem® tipple!

Looking to liven up your seasonal shindig? Look no further than the hottest new tipple in town, the ‘Broctail'! Top London mixologist and Sunday Brunch regular, Jack Sotti has taken to Instagram to share his latest cocktail creation, and he’s used none other than Tenderstem® broccoli to help ring in the most wonderful time of the year.

The Broctail, taking inspiration from one of the world's favourite cocktails, the Margarita, is a perfect balance of flavour, offering a refreshing alternative to your typically mulled or ‘nogged’ advent aperitifs. Tenderstem's versatile flavour profile makes for the perfect cocktail base, pairing harmoniously with the tang of tequila, balanced magically with citrus, salt and silky extra virgin olive oil.

The Broctail may be dividing opinions online, but we’re seeing stars! Fancy giving it a try? Scroll down to watch the video and learn how to make your own broctail.

The Broctail will be available at Ester bar, located in London’s Camden Market between 1st and 31st December, or check out the recipe below to make your own!

  1. Start by prepping your Tenderstem®; bring a pot to the boil and blanche for no more than 1 minute. Quickly remove and crash cool in an ice bath to prevent any further cooking. Pat dry and store in a sealed container with a dry kitchen towel.

  2. Add 3 florets of Tenderstem® broccoli, your lime juice, sugar syrup, Blanco tequila, sherry, olive oil & salt into a shaker. Use a stick blender or blender to break down the broccoli. If you don’t have one, use a muddler or rolling pin to crush it.

  3. Then add lots of ice to a shaker and shake hard for 30 seconds.

  4. Fine strain into a rocks glass with lots of ice and garnish with a blanched Tenderstem floret and a pinch of flaky salt.
