ROAST BOASTS

Tenderstem®

Roast Boasts Competition 2026

TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. The Competition

The Tenderstem® Roast Boasts Competition 2026 (the “Competition”) is a skill-based competition in which entrants are invited to submit a photograph of a roast they are proud of together with a roast cooking tip, trick, shortcut or hack.

The Competition is promoted by Twenty Degrees Limited, 42 Kings Hill Avenue, Kings Hill, Kent, ME19 4AJ (the “Promoter”).

No purchase of Tenderstem® or any other product is necessary to enter.

By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

2. Eligibility

The Competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over, except:

  • employees of the Promoter or its group companies;
  • employees of any agency or organisation directly involved in administering the Competition;
  • members of the immediate families or households of those persons; and
  • anyone professionally connected with the Competition.

Internet access is required to enter.

The Promoter may request reasonable evidence of eligibility before confirming a winner or awarding a prize.

3. Competition Period

The Competition opens at 00:00 UK time on 5 October 2026.

Entries must be submitted by 23:59 UK time on 15 November 2026 (the “Closing Date”).

Entries received after the Closing Date will not be eligible.

The Promoter is not responsible for entries which are lost, delayed, incomplete or not successfully submitted because of a technical fault or other circumstances outside its reasonable control.

4. How to Enter

To enter, entrants must:

1. prepare or participate in preparing a genuine roast meal;

2. take a clear photograph of a roast they are proud of;

3. describe their best roast tip, trick, shortcut or hack in 50 words or fewer;

4. complete the online Competition entry form;

5. upload the photograph;

6. provide the requested contact and entry information; and

7. confirm that they have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

The roast hack may relate to any aspect of preparing, cooking or serving a roast, including techniques which:

  • save time;
  • reduce food waste;
  • make cooking easier;
  • improve flavour, texture or presentation; or
  • otherwise make the roast better.

The hack does not need to involve Tenderstem®.

There is no entry fee and no purchase is necessary.

5. Multiple Entries

Multiple entries per person are permitted.

Each entry must relate to a genuinely distinct roast hack and must be submitted using a separate Competition entry form.

Duplicate or substantially identical hacks submitted by the same entrant will not constitute separate entries.

Different photographs of the same roast accompanied by the same or substantially similar hack will not constitute separate entries.

An entrant may win a maximum of one prize.

Where more than one entry from the same entrant would otherwise place within the top three, only that entrant’s highest-scoring entry will be eligible for a prize and the next highest-scoring eligible entry from another entrant will take the available position.

6. The Roast Boasts Brief

The Competition is intended to celebrate the real tips, tricks and traditions used by home cooks to make their roasts better.

A submitted hack may be:

  • something developed by the entrant;
  • a happy accident which has become part of their cooking routine;
  • a family or household tradition;
  • a technique passed down through generations; or
  • a commonly known technique which the entrant genuinely uses.

Entrants do not need to claim that they invented the hack.

However, the entrant must describe the hack in their own words and must not copy substantial wording from another person’s recipe, article, book, website, social-media post or other protected material.

The hack should reflect genuine cooking experience rather than a fictional story created solely for the Competition.

7. Photographs, Original Content and Third-Party Rights

The submitted photograph must show a genuine roast meal.

Entrants must either have taken the photograph themselves or have the necessary permission from the photographer to submit it and grant the rights set out in these Terms & Conditions.

Entrants should not include identifiable third parties in their photograph unless they have permission from those individuals for the photograph to be submitted and used for the purposes described in these Terms & Conditions.

Entries must not contain material which is unlawful, offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, dangerous or otherwise inappropriate for publication by Tenderstem®.

The Promoter may exclude an entry which it reasonably considers does not comply with this section.

8. Food Safety

Roast hacks must not advocate cooking, preparation, storage or food-handling practices which the Promoter reasonably considers unsafe, unlawful or likely to cause harm.

The Promoter may exclude an entry from judging or publication where reasonable food-safety concerns arise.

Selection for judging or publication does not constitute professional food-safety advice.

Any hack selected for publication may be reviewed for food-safety purposes before being published.

9. Generative AI and Image Editing

The submitted roast photograph must show a genuine meal which existed in real life.

Entrants must not use generative artificial intelligence to:

  • generate a fictional or non-existent roast;
  • add, remove or replace material food items within the submitted photograph;
  • substantially alter the appearance or quality of the food shown; or
  • otherwise materially misrepresent the roast submitted as their entry.

Ordinary photographic adjustments which do not materially change the entry are permitted, including reasonable:

  • cropping;
  • straightening;
  • brightness adjustments;
  • contrast adjustments; and
  • colour correction.

AI tools may be used to assist with spelling, grammar or wording of the entrant’s roast hack, provided that the underlying hack, cooking experience and any personal or family story described are genuine and are not invented by the AI tool.

The Promoter may carry out reasonable authenticity checks before confirming prize winners.

The Promoter will not reject or disqualify an entry solely because an automated AI-detection tool indicates that an image or text may have been AI-generated.

10. Judging

Following the Closing Date, all eligible entries will be assessed by a judging panel.

The panel will include: Jon Watts and an independent judge

and at least one competent judge who is demonstrably independent of the Promoter, the administration of the Competition and the pool of entrants.

The full names of the judges will be made available on request.

Each eligible entry will be scored out of 100 against the following criteria:

Judging criterion

Weighting

Usefulness of the hack - how effectively it could improve a roast, save time, reduce waste or make cooking easier

30%

Practicality & achievability - how realistic and usable the hack would be for another home cook

25%

Ingenuity & personality - how memorable, interesting or engaging the hack and the story behind it are

20%

The roast itself - appetite appeal, the overall result and how well the roast brings the entry to life

25%

Professional photography skill will not form part of the judging criteria.

Entries are not required to contain a wholly original or never-before-used cooking technique. Inherited, traditional and commonly shared techniques may score highly where the entry performs strongly against the published criteria.

The judges will score entries independently.

The average judging score for each entry will be used to establish the Competition ranking.

11. Campaign Features and Chef Testing

During the Competition, the Promoter may select individual Roast Boasts for editorial or social-media content, including having selected hacks tested or discussed by a chef or other campaign contributor.

Selection for such content:

  • is separate from formal Competition judging;
  • does not mean the entrant is a finalist or prize winner;
  • does not guarantee inclusion in the Tenderstem® Roast Hack Book; and
  • will not itself increase or reduce an entrant’s judging score.

Where a member of the judging panel has been materially involved in selecting or testing a particular entry for campaign content before formal judging, that judge may abstain from scoring that entry. The entry will instead be scored by the remaining eligible judges, including the independent judge, using the same published criteria.

12. Determining the Winners

Eligible entries will be ranked according to their judging scores.

The highest-scoring eligible entry will be the overall winner.

The second and third highest-scoring eligible entries will be the two runners-up.

If two or more entries achieve the same overall judging score, the tie will be resolved in the following order:

1. higher score for Usefulness of the hack;

2. if still tied, higher score for Practicality & achievability; and

3. if still tied, the independent judge will determine the higher-ranked entry by applying the published judging criteria.

The Promoter may retain a ranked list of reserve entries in case a provisional prize winner cannot be confirmed.

The reserve ranking will not be published.

13. Authenticity and Winner Verification

The three highest-ranked entrants will initially be treated as provisional prize winners, subject to eligibility and authenticity verification.

The Promoter may ask a provisional winner to provide reasonable evidence demonstrating that their entry is genuine. This may include:

  • the original or source version of the submitted photograph;
  • an additional photograph taken on the same roast occasion, where available;
  • information explaining how and when the roast was prepared;
  • a brief explanation of how the entrant uses the submitted hack;
  • a short video or other reasonable evidence demonstrating their knowledge or use of the hack.

Verification evidence will be used solely for Competition administration unless separate permission is obtained for wider publication.

An entrant will not be disqualified solely because they are unable to supply one particular form of evidence where other reasonable evidence establishes authenticity.

If a provisional winner:

  • does not respond within the verification period stated by the Promoter;
  • cannot reasonably demonstrate that the entry is genuine;
  • is found to be ineligible; or
  • is found to have materially breached these Terms & Conditions,

the Promoter may offer the relevant prize to the next highest-ranked eligible entrant.

The Promoter may allow additional time where it reasonably considers that a genuine communication or accessibility issue has occurred.

14. Prizes

There are three prizes.

Overall Winner

The overall winner will receive:

  • £400 in The Hand & Flowers gift vouchers;
  • up to £200 towards travel costs associated with visiting The Hand & Flowers (Receipts required)
  • one Le Creuset 3-ply Stainless Steel Rectangular Roaster, 35cm / 5.5L; and
  • one Le Creuset Stoneware Coupe 8-piece Dinnerware Set in Bleu Riviera.

Up to £200 reimbursement towards reasonable travel costs incurred by the winner in travelling to and from The Hand & Flowers. Reimbursement will be made against valid receipts or other acceptable proof of purchase, which must be submitted to the Promoter within 30 days of the visit. The maximum reimbursement available is £200. Any travel costs above this amount will be the winner’s responsibility. No unused portion of the £200 travel allowance will be paid in cash

Two Runners-Up

Each runner-up will receive:

  • one Le Creuset Stoneware Coupe 8-piece Dinnerware Set in Bleu Riviera; and
  • one Le Creuset Stoneware Heritage Rectangular Dish, 26cm / 2.4L, in Bleu Riviera.

All stated product colours and exact models are subject to availability at the time of fulfilment.

Prizes are:

  • non-transferable;
  • not exchangeable by the Promoter for cash; and
  • not substitutable at the winner’s request.

If circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control make a stated prize unavailable, the Promoter may substitute a prize of equal or greater value provided that doing so does not materially disadvantage the winner.

The Hand & Flowers and Le Creuset are not the sponsors, promoters or administrators of this Competition and have no responsibility for its administration unless expressly stated otherwise.

Third-party vouchers and products are subject to the applicable supplier terms and conditions.

15. Winner Notification

The overall winner and two runners-up will be contacted using the email address provided with their Competition entry.

Each provisional winner will have 7 calendar days from the date of the winner-notification email to respond and confirm acceptance of their prize and complete any required verification.

The Promoter will make reasonable attempts to contact each winner, including at least one reminder where appropriate.

If a winner does not respond despite reasonable attempts to contact them, or is subsequently found to be ineligible, the Promoter may offer the prize to the next highest-ranked eligible entrant.

No new judging will take place solely because a prize needs to be reallocated.

The Promoter intends to issue the prize components promptly following confirmation of the winners.

16. The Tenderstem® Roast Hack Book

Following the Competition, the Promoter intends to curate a selection of eligible Roast Boasts for inclusion in a Tenderstem® Roast Hack Book, expected to launch in or around January 2027.

Selection for the Roast Hack Book is an editorial decision separate from Competition judging.

Inclusion in the book:

  • is not an additional prize;
  • is not guaranteed by entering the Competition;
  • does not indicate an entrant’s Competition ranking; and
  • may include entries which did not win a Competition prize.

The number of hacks included in the book will be determined by the Promoter having regard to quality, usefulness, variety, repetition, food safety and editorial suitability.

The Promoter is not required to include a fixed number of entries.

The final selection may be kept confidential until publication.

Each valid entrant is expected to receive access to a digital copy of the finished Roast Hack Book using the email address supplied with their Competition entry.

The digital book is an entrant benefit and is separate from the three Competition prizes.

17. Editing Hacks for Publication

Where a Roast Boast is selected for publication, the Promoter may make reasonable editorial amendments for:

  • spelling;
  • grammar;
  • clarity;
  • length;
  • formatting;
  • consistency;
  • house style; and
  • food-safety wording.

The Promoter will not deliberately make changes which materially alter the underlying idea of the entrant’s hack.

Where a hack requires such extensive changes that its original meaning would be materially altered, the Promoter may choose not to publish it.

18. Competition Content and Intellectual Property

Entrants retain ownership of any copyright and other intellectual-property rights they hold in their original submitted photograph and written entry.

By entering, each entrant grants the Promoter and Tenderstem® a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce, edit, adapt, display, publish, distribute and communicate their submitted Competition photograph and roast hack for the purposes of:

  • administering and judging the Competition;
  • verifying Competition entries;
  • announcing and celebrating winners;
  • producing Competition-related editorial and social-media content;
  • testing or demonstrating selected roast hacks;
  • publishing Competition-related material on Tenderstem® websites, social-media channels and newsletters;
  • creating, publishing and distributing the Tenderstem® Roast Hack Book, including digital editions and limited printed copies;
  • distributing printed copies for contributors, consumers, PR, media and promotional purposes;
  • promoting the Tenderstem® Roast Hack Book and the Roast Boasts campaign; and
  • maintaining an archive of the Competition and its results.

This licence does not transfer ownership of the entrant’s copyright to the Promoter.

Entrants confirm that they have the necessary rights and permissions to grant the licence described above.

The licence does not give the Promoter an unrestricted right to use the entrant’s photograph or personal content for unrelated advertising campaigns.

Any materially different use of an entrant’s personal image, interview, quotation or video contribution may be agreed separately where appropriate.

19. Attribution in the Roast Hack Book

Where an entrant’s hack is selected for publication, the Promoter may publish the hack with the entrant’s first name and a general location such as county or region, where the entrant has agreed to this.

Where an entrant does not wish their identifying information to be published, the Promoter may publish the hack anonymously or with reduced identifying information.

The Promoter may contact selected entrants to confirm the preferred attribution before publication.

20. Publication of Winners

Following completion of the Competition, the Promoter will make available information demonstrating that valid awards took place.

This may ordinarily include the surname and county of the major prize winners and details of the winning entries.

This information may be requested by contacting the Promoter at nlindsay@twentydegrees.com

A winner may object to the publication of their personal information or request that the amount of personal information made available is reduced.

The Promoter may nevertheless provide winner information to the Advertising Standards Authority where reasonably required to demonstrate that a valid award took place.

21. Personal Data

Personal data supplied in connection with the Competition may be used for purposes including:

  • administering entries;
  • communicating with entrants;
  • checking eligibility;
  • judging and verification;
  • contacting and fulfilling prizes to winners;
  • producing and distributing the Roast Hack Book;
  • administering publication permissions;
  • dealing with queries or complaints; and
  • demonstrating that the Competition was administered fairly.

The Promoter may share personal data with service providers, independent judges and other parties where reasonably necessary to administer the Competition.

Competition entry data will not automatically subscribe entrants to marketing communications.

Any marketing consent offered in connection with the Competition will be separate and optional.

Further information about personal-data handling is available in the applicable privacy notice: tenderstem.co.uk/privacy-cookie-policy

22. Fair Administration and Disqualification

The Promoter will administer the Competition fairly and in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

The Promoter may reject an entry or disqualify an entrant where it has reasonable grounds to believe that:

  • the entrant has materially breached these Terms & Conditions;
  • the entrant is not eligible;
  • the roast photograph is not genuine;
  • the submitted hack is fictional rather than genuinely used or known by the entrant;
  • the entry materially misrepresents the roast;
  • prohibited generative AI has been used;
  • the submitted material infringes third-party rights;
  • the hack advocates unsafe practices;
  • the entry has been plagiarised or copied substantially from another source; or
  • the entrant has interfered with the fair administration of the Competition.

The Promoter may request reasonable information or evidence necessary to investigate suspected breaches.

Disqualification will not be based solely on unsupported suspicion or the output of an automated AI-detection tool.

Where reasonably practicable, the Promoter will consider relevant evidence supplied by an affected entrant before making a final decision.

23. Technical Problems and Events Outside the Promoter’s Control

The Promoter will take reasonable steps to ensure that the Competition operates as described.

If a technical failure or circumstance outside the Promoter’s reasonable control materially affects the Competition, the Promoter may take such reasonable action as is necessary to restore fair administration.

The Promoter will not cancel, suspend or materially change the Competition merely because doing so would be commercially convenient.

Any material change will only be made where reasonably necessary because of circumstances outside the Promoter’s control and will, so far as reasonably practicable:

  • preserve the fairness of the Competition;
  • avoid disadvantaging participants; and
  • be communicated clearly to affected participants.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

24. Decisions and Records

The Promoter will retain appropriate records of the administration of the Competition, including relevant:

  • judging scores;
  • eligibility checks;
  • authenticity verification;
  • tie-break decisions;
  • winner reallocation where applicable; and
  • prize fulfilment.

Subject to these Terms & Conditions and applicable law, decisions of the judging panel and Promoter relating to administration of the Competition are final.

Nothing in this section prevents an entrant from raising a complaint or exercising any rights available to them under applicable law.

25. Governing Law

The Competition and these Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, provided that nothing in these Terms & Conditions deprives entrants living in Scotland or Northern Ireland of any mandatory rights or protections available to them under applicable law.
