Master basic knife skills

Save time (and look cool) in the kitchen by swotting up on some knife skills. You won’t regret it.

Look after your knifes

Don’t leave knifes to soak in the sink—the water can damage the handles, especially wooden ones, and cause the blades to rust.

The wrist-fulcrum method

Keep the heel of the knife (the part of the blade closest to the handle) near the cutting board, pointing the tip of the knife upwards. Your wrist is acting as a fulcrum, swivelling up and down to move the knife in a chopping motion.
